Let's make a greeting card using up to 4 tubes - and with the greeting in an arc over your image.(this is mandatory)
I wonder how many of you have already tried doing this. Most tutorials that show you how are rather complicated - but here's the easier way that I use.
1. Using your ellipse preset shape (vector) draw an ellipse on your image - the shape that you want your text to follow.
2. Then grab the Text tool, making sure on the tool options bar that it is set to "create as vector" and the Alignment is in the centre.
3. Hover over the edge of your ellipse as near centre top as you can and until the A has a little arc under it like this...
4. Click here and type your text, choosing the font and size you want to make it fit in an arc. Don't use a script or Italic font as it is not usually successful. The letters need to be straight up.
5. Now to get rid of the ellipse. In the layers palette you will see a little arrow or something similar (depending on what version of PSP you're using) beside the Vector layer with your text/ellipse. Click on it and it will open out to make the text and the shape on separate layers.
6. Click the hide button beside the shape layer and the shape disappears.
7. Right-click on the Vector layer and "Convert to Raster". Once it is a raster layer you can do what you want with it - move it around to suit your image, add a drop-shadow to make it look 3D, or change the color .
Tip: If you want to re-color the text or put a gold pattern on it etc - click on the layer and then click on the little lock icon in the part above the layers (see screen-shot above). This locks the transparency and you can use the Airbrush to spray on whatever you want without it getting all over the layer.
But don't forget to unlock it again if you want to put a drop shadow on it.
You can use this method to put your text in a circle or along any simple shape.
If you would like to know the simple method to put text in a circle that Photoplus uses let me know and I'll post it. It works in PSP too.
