New Type Challenge....WORD ART

Greetings FnF Friends!

This week I’m giving you the perfect opportunity for a 2fer, AND introducing a new challenge that I will be presenting on alternate Fridays from now on.  WORD ART!  I’m sure most of you will agree, the right word art can make or break a graphic.  I thought it’d be fun to start creating our own to share.  I’ll work on sending you a different theme or lesson each time.

To complete these challenges separately, you would need to CREATE YOUR OWN WORD ART for one, and USE WORD ART IN A GRAPHIC for the other.  So putting them together should be easy-peasy!  If you haven’t done LAST week’s TOTW (LUCK), you could even create a luck-themed bit of word art and get a 3fer! 

If you create your own word art, please attach it for others to save if they want to.  Also, it’d be nice for you to state which font(s) you used in your creation.

Because this week’s TOTW is combined with the first word art challenge, there will be more info about creating word art than there will be in future TOTWs.  Each Word Art Challenge, however, will have the following links for easy reference.

A couple important things to remember when creating word art:

• Quotes from quote sites, or bits of song lyrics make great word art.
• The typeface you choose can have a big impact on your graphic, and the word art itself.  Select a font that works well with the subect of your phrase AND the graphic.
• Keep it legible.  Swirly, curvy fonts are beautiful and fun, but when they get reduced in size they can be difficult to read.  That said, for one PART of a word art phrase, the decorative fonts can add some nice flair.
• LAYERS, LAYERS, LAYERS!  Working with a new layer for each aspect of your word art can make it much easier to adjust things.  You can always “merge visible” later.  Remember to go back to your original layer for each new bit of text so you don’t confuse your program or end up with 2 parts in one vector.
• Please save your word art in PNG form so others can use it in any program.
